The highest amount of electricity was used in the history of Telangana.
Telangana's electricity consumption has reached historic levels, breaking records even before the summer season. The surge in demand is attributed to rising temperatures, agricultural motor usage, and growing industrial and commercial needs. With high electricity demand expected to continue, the state prepares for further increases and potential power cuts.

Even before the onset of summer, electricity consumption in Telangana is breaking records. The people of the state have set a new record in history by using 16,293 megawatts of electricity. On February 5, a consumption of 15,820 megawatts was recorded, and the latest figures have surpassed this record within just a few days. If the situation is so severe in February, it is anticipated that electricity consumption will further increase during the summer.
The increase in electricity demand is mainly attributed to the rise in temperature and the increased use of motors in the agriculture sector. Additionally, the growing demands from employment, commerce, and industry are also contributing to the rise in electricity consumption, as revealed by officials. In the past, summer locust attacks and power cuts would occur, but currently, with continuous electricity supply in the state, this is another reason for the increased consumption.
With electricity consumption already breaking records in February, it is expected that the demand will rise further in March and April. During the summer, household usage, air conditioners, and coolers will be used more, doubling the need for electricity. In this context, the state electricity department needs to prepare advance plans. There are also fears of power cuts due to the high demand. If the government takes the necessary precautionary measures, electricity supply can continue without causing any inconvenience to the public.
